Open Letter of Apology to My Community
This is an open letter of apology to all those that I have hurt or offended.
Through these years I’ve had time to scrutinize my life and the many negative actions that I’ve taken for which I deeply regret. If I have done something wrong to you, offended you, or hurt you in any way, either directly or indirectly, I offer my most sincere and heartfelt apology. I want you to know that every relationship that I’ve had whether familial, friendly, acquainted, professional, or romantic I valued and always had the best of intentions. For those that this letter is written for, you did nothing wrong, it is clear that I have failed.
Apart from the reason that I am incarcerated for which is terrible, offensive, and which I have the deepest sorrow and regret for, there are other egregious things that I have done and recognize that are awful and hurtful. For these things too I am ashamed and sorry.
I offer no excuses for my actions and take full responsibility for the things that I have done. In order to offer some kind of explanation and to answer your question as to “why” I will say that there are things about my life and upbringing that you may not be aware of. I will also tell you that I have sustained deep depression and extreme low self-esteem since early childhood. I have tried my whole life to suppress these things and to a certain extent I continue to do so to this day. These are not excuses but the symptoms of those things which have guided my actions. I know much time has passed but I believe that some wounds are deep and need to be redressed. I have caused you pain and realize that I may never be able to repair what I have done to you. I fully regret what I have done and am truly sorry.
If you desire, I offer to you a direct and personal apology as well as listen to you fully and without interruption to what you want to say. I offer this to you to try to correct any wrongs I have done and will do my best to correct them to your satisfaction.
Most Sincerely,
Gregory J. Marcinski
